RuneScape 15th Anniversary Documentary

RuneScape’s 15th anniversary has come and gone but the celebrations haven’t ended just yet, the party is still very much raging on into the wee hours of the morning through the release of this feature length documentary which was released by the publishers of the game itself, Jagex.

is the tale of a world created in a kitchen, of a community bonding as they kill chickens or fish for sharks. It is a sneaky peak behind the scenes of an online world which documents the MMORPGs humble beginnings and it’s beautiful transformation into one of the worlds most popular/successful games out there. We witness the highs and lows faced throughout this journey and learn how a video game can still be loved whilst remain relevant after 15 years.

Boasting six Guinness world records and 240 million accounts, RuneScape has quietly become a dominant force in the gaming world and this film does a fantastic job and covering its history.

Genesis P-Orridge

Last month, industrial performance artist and provocateur Genesis P-Orridge performed her final concert at London venue Heaven. It wasn’t just a farewell to her audience, but also a means for Genesis P-Orridge to bid farewell to herself. Recently she told the New York Times that the course of her chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia meant that she had “less optimistically, a year, maybe six months. And then I’m on the downward slope to death”. As with the Fall’s Mark E Smith in January this year, it’s difficult to imagine the UK music underground without this constant fixture. The death was confirmed by Genesis's daughters, Genesse and Caresse, the musician and artist, who had been battling leukaemia for two-and-a-half years, was 70. “It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge,” Caresse and Genesse P-Orridge said in a statement shared online. “S/he will be laid to rest h/er other half, Jaqueline “Lady Jaye” Brey...

FM Synthesis

FM synthesis is short for frequency modulation synthesis . Simply put, FM synthesis uses one signal called, the “modulator” to modulate the pitch of another signal, the “carrier”, that’s in the same or a similar audio range. This creates brand new frequency information in the resulting sound, changing the timbre without the use of filters. FM synthesis can create both harmonic and inharmonic sounds. To synthesize harmonic sounds, the modulating signal must have a harmonic relationship to the original carrier signal. As the amount of frequency modulation increases, the sound grows progressively complex. It was discovered in the 1967 experiments of John Chowning at Stanford University. At first, Chowning was using complex waveforms to modulate the pitch of simple sine waves. This resulted in supersonic signals at frequencies over a million Hertz. Recap: Reka x Imperial Black Unit - Todo Avaricia [F016]

‘Todo Avaricia’ by Reka and the duo Imperial Black Unit is the result of an immediate and natural connection forged between the three artists, through a jam session that swiftly and intuitively yielded three tracks of stylistically diverse yet demonstrably cohesive sounds. Featuring the sampled voices of Che Guevara, Pablo Neruda and original vocals by Reka herself, the EP plays the role of an urgent call to action against political and environmental injustice, conveyed via the musical substrate of new beat, industrial and EBM, fused into a landscape of techno and undeniably constructed for the dancefloor. The EP is rounded off with a heavy-hitting remix of the title track by the prolific Umwelt, in his signature dramatic style. Well known for her selections oscillating between dystopian aesthetics and illuminating energy, REKA has cultivated a very personal approach to heady machine music. Featuring everything from contemporary techno to the genre's prototypical past...
